Event Description:
Guest speaker Andrew DiMeo, Innovation and Design Coach at Trig, will be discussing the following at the event:

“Design Thinking, Human Centered Design (HCD), and Human Factors Engineering (HFE) are terms increasingly heard as the emphasis on device use continues to be a focus of regulatory bodies and standards organizations including the FDA, EU, ISO and IEC.  In the present-day world of value-based healthcare and the experience economy, the methods of good design practices are critically important to innovation. This session is Design Thinking, HCD, and HFE explained, the role of prototyping, and the impact on commercial and regulatory success.

Good design is a holistic approach that reaches beyond product features.  Benefits of incorporating these principles include reduced repeat work, lower development costs, increased sales, stronger brand and consumer loyalty, reduced HFE related regulatory rejections, and reduced time to market.  Well-designed products are easier to use, easier to learn, require less training and therefore less customer support.  They minimize use related errors and reduce the burden of liability in the market.  When implemented at the front end of product development, these methods increase the financial success of your product.”
