Many agree gene editing is one of today’s most promising innovations, with tremendous potential to benefit society and food production. Yet, success hinges on public support and acceptance – granting researchers, scientists and the food system the social license to responsibly develop gene editing to its full potential.
Based on consumer research about use of technology in food production, a communication resource was recently released by the Coalition for Responsible Gene Editing in Agriculture. This Coalition is facilitated by The Center for Food Integrity (CFI), whom we have invited to RTP to offer this workshop on how to participate in an informed public dialogue and build trust in gene editing. To provide a customized, interactive experience with the training, we will split into two groups: scientists and marketers/ag communicators. The program will wrap with a dynamic panel of speakers sharing perspective on how we engage about gene editing in a manner that can build public trust.
Prep for the workshop by downloading and reviewing the CFI gene editing communications resource.
